What is Forest School?

The aim of a Forest School is to assist and encourage children of all ages to develop their social, personal and emotional skills in a safe outdoor, natural environment. Many sessions are based in Woodlands, but the ideas and activities can take place anywhere. Each session is guided by the children involved and will all be very different!

Research into the specific benefits of a Forest School Program (FSP) has shown that children of all ages have progressed amazingly in areas such as self-confidence, self esteem, awareness of themselves and others, communication and concentration.

Most lessons will take place outside, unless it is really unsafe to do so......even in the rain!!

Everyone will need to be appropriately dressed in old clothes as we are likely to get muddy, and they will need a waterproof coat and wellies or old shoes. To begin with we will be working within the school grounds to build confidence and awareness of working and playing in a different environment and to get to know each other.

The program will cover lots of different and interesting subjects such as shelter building, knots, wood and looking differently at what is around us. I am not going to go into too much detail so I dont spoil the surprise and excitment when each child tells of their adventures.

If you have any questions or concerns please do come and speak to me, I am happy to help.
